Celebrating Life …

The Overnight Train took us more or less rested in 13h to Varanasi. The city with its 2 million inhabitants has one of the craziest traffic which doesn’t seem to follow any rules. Varanasi - the city of life and death - attracts everyone independent of their faith and beliefs to experience the spiritual vibe of the Ganges, the Ghats as well as the cremation sides. A city to mourn your loved ones or to get blessed for new things to come and wash away your sins. Enjoying a nightly boat ride on the river, being part of an enormous evening ceremony with hundreds of other boats and witnessing the cremations by night, is not for everyones eyes or everybody’s stomach, but it is such an intense moment you will never forget. After the ceremony the Ganges was lit up with hundreds of little candles and flowers floating away with the thoughts from their sender. Magical.
