From Brisbane to Sydney

The first overnight stop of our road trip along the mighty Pacific to Sydney was Byron Bay. Its beautiful beaches are populated by a fairly posh as well as younger party crowd which gave us more of a beach holiday feeling. After that we enjoyed Yamba's sleepy atmosphere and quiet spots even more. Driving south a further 140 km we reached Coffs Harbour which is also home to Mutton Bird Island from where whales can be seen during May to September, unfortunately we were a bit early. After a detour into the hinterlands to Dorrigo national park, we reached Port Macquarie, the half way point of our tour. In addition to its rough and natural beaches one can walk through preserved Rainforest which reaches all the way down to the ocean or visit the Koala hospital to learn more about our little furry friends. Port Stephens was our last stop before reaching Sydney. Here we enjoyed a quiet afternoon at one mile beach before driving down to busy Sydney the next day.
