From the bay of the descending dragons to the former capital Hue

Together with our new travel companions from Australia, Ireland, the UK and the US we discovered one of Vietnam’s water-sport and scenic gems, Ha Long Bay or the bay of the descending dragons.

By exploring the bay with our kayaks, we got the chance to see the fish farms of the locals and to swim before sunset in the sea was the perfect finish of the day.

Unfortunately, we already had to leave the stunning scenery after one night, heading back to Hanoi for the night train to Hue, Vietnam’s capital prior to 1945. The night in the train was surprisingly pleasant and we did get a decent amount of sleep to be ready for a packed day in Hue. The highlights were a visit to the royal city, lunch in a local household as well as a cyclo ride through old and new city of Hue crossing the perfume river.
