Visiting the first settlement in South East Asia

Our tour through South East Asia led us to the slightly sleepy, but very likeable city of Georgetown on the island of Penang in Malaysia. Georgetown itself is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site which luckily incentivises the city to not demolish anymore of the beautiful colonial era buildings.

We stayed pretty much in the centre, having most of the sights in walking distance and the impressive Blue Mansion (used as a movie set in many films, including Crazy Rich Asians) next door. Penang Hill, which offers amazing views of the island and its surroundings was also only a short drive away. On top of the old buildings, the city offers plenty of street art and a delicious range of Malay, Chinese and Indian dishes which can be consumed at the Hawker stall of your choice.
