From Jaipur to Agra …

On our way to Agra we stopped in Dhula Village for one night. This place with its 2000 inhabitants provided a true contrast to the multi-million people cities visited before and allowed for some reflection about the trip, the country and its people. After finishing a bike ride through the fields and nature outside the village the following morning, our next stop was the Chand Baori stepwell, with its HIndu and Muslim architecture. One of the highlights of the whole tour was in store for us the next day, the stunningly beautiful Taj Mahal. The mausoleum built by the emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal with its (almost) perfect symmetry and translucent marble. The Taj was followed by the Red Fort of Agra and the Tomb of I’timad-Ud-Daulah (also known as Baby Taj), which has its own charm especially in regards to the level of detail and sophistication of the artwork and handcraft.
