A new perspective

After yesterdays first little culture shock moving from the upper class South Delhi area to Karol Bagh, I started the new day with a much more positive feeling, new energy and a big portion of courage. In the morning we did a guided city walk in the neighbourhood close to New Delhi train station, discovering the little back alleys with “creative” electricity installations, small backpacker hostels and a lot of local traders; and we also learned a lot about the power of faith.

After these mostly worldly discoveries, the late morning and the afternoon were dedicated to the spiritual, with some delicious Delhi street food in between. We visited the ‘Jama Masjid’ mosque climbing one of the minarets and having a view of the structured chaos in the roads and alleys. The visit to the colourful and musical Sikh temple ‘Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib’ created a completely different experience and was followed in the afternoon by a visit to the Hindu temple ‘Akshardham’  which was again in stark contrast to the other two.
